OAKLAND -- A man was shot in the arm in the Coliseum BART station parking lot Wednesday morning after refusing to give his valuables to a robber, police said.

The man's wound was not life-threatening, police said. His age and place of residence were not released.

The shooting was reported about 10:42 a.m. when the man called BART police.

Police Lt. Aaron Ledford said the man told police he was sitting in his car in the station parking lot when the man approached him, displayed a gun and demanded his property. When the man refused, he was shot. The suspect then ran away.

No arrests have been made.

Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call investigators at 510-464-7040.

Police said the shooting did not affect rail service.
