A Fairfield woman was fatally stabbed Tuesday night in a Suisun City apartment and police are searching for the suspect she named as her attacker before dying.
Lorena Martinez told police to look for Victor Mejia, Cmdr. Tim Mattos said in a press statement Wednesday.
Police responded to a home in the 1300 block of Worley Road around 9:30 p.m. on a report of a woman bleeding and asking for help. Upon arrival, officers found Martinez suffering from multiple stab wounds.
Mattos said a dispute inside the residence, where the victim did not live, resulted in the stabbing.Martinez, 30, was able to give officers a statement about the stabbing and named her alleged attacker, Mattos said. She was taken to NorthBay Medical Center in Fairfield, where she later died.
After the attack, Mejia reportedly left the apartment complex in the victim's vehicle, which was found abandoned shortly thereafter on the northbound shoulder of the Benicia Bridge.
The case remains under investigation. Anyone with information is asked to call Mattos at 421-7373.
