SANTA CLARA -- A 42-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of possessing child pornography in a joint raid by San Jose and Santa Clara authorities Thursday morning.

According to San Jose police, John Robert Fields was taken into custody without incident at his home on the 1200 block of Sherwood Avenue around 7 a.m.

The search warrant was served by San Jose police's Internet Crimes Against Children Task force with help from the Santa Clara police SWAT team.

Fields was booked into Santa Clara County Jail, where he is being held on $25,000 bail. He has a court date set for Monday.

Letel Barber, who lives next door to Fields, said she saw numerous computers being confiscated as evidence Thursday morning.

She called Fields "very creepy," and said she has complained to authorities about his erratic comments and behavior. She said he set up surveillance cameras around his house and believes he was spying on her, or worse, her family.

"This whole child porn thing is blowing me away," she said. "I have a 12-year-old son. I've always told him not to go near him."

No further information about what led to Fields' arrest or evidence seized was immediately available.
