ANTIOCH -- A 42-year-old Antioch man was fatally shot Saturday morning, a day after he suffered a gunshot to his leg and back.

Officers were dispatched just after 9:30 a.m. Saturday to the intersection of Spanos Street and Sycamore Drive for a report of several shots being fired, said Lt. Diane Aguinaga.

As police responded to the scene, they were told that a man had been shot in the head, Aguinaga said.

Officers found the victim shot in the head on the porch of his apartment in the 2100 block of Spanos Street. The victim, who was unconscious, was transported to an area hospital where he later died, Aguinaga said.

As of late Saturday no suspect or motive was known.

Aguinaga said the victim has a criminal history but did not elaborate.

She also said the victim was married and lived in the home with several family members.

Police say the victim was also shot Friday morning about 11 a.m. at the same location. During that shooting, his back was grazed by a bullet and he also suffered a gunshot wound to his leg. The victim was treated at a hospital and released following that incident but refused to talk to officers about who shot him.

Both incidents remained under investigation on Saturday.

Anyone with information about either shooting is asked to call police at 925-779-6941. Tips may also be texted to 274637 (CRIMES) using the key word ANTIOCH.
