The show must go on for widening Highway 4 through East Contra Costa County.
Despite the BART strike, overnight road work and closures to traffic this week will proceed as scheduled.
The contractor will be removing falsework from the new bridge on Pittsburg's Loveridge Road, according to a Caltrans news release. For safety reasons, all eastbound lanes of Highway 4 will be closed overnight Monday and westbound Tuesday; the eastbound closure from midnight to 5:30 a.m. and westbound from 11 p.m. to 3:30 a.m.
Eastbound motorists will be detoured off the highway at the Loveridge Road exit, and then quickly back on. Westbound drivers will have to get off at Antioch's Somersville Road/Auto Center Drive exit, and west on Pittsburg-Antioch Highway back to Loveridge and the freeway.
