LA HONDA -- The San Jose man killed Tuesday in a high-speed motorcycle crash on a rural San Mateo County road was identified as Ceyhun Uyanik, the coroner's officer said Friday.
Uyanik, 32, died as paramedics were preparing to fly him to a hospital for treatment after he crashed into a tree at "a high rate of speed," around 6:30 p.m., the California Highway Patrol said. He apparently failed to negotiate a left hand curve on Skyline Boulevard about two miles south of Page Mill Road.
Witnesses told police they saw Uyanik on a black 2012 Yamaha motorcycle before he went off the road, hitting a tree about 7-10 feet away.
According to the CHP speed was a factor in the crash, but there were no obvious signs drugs or alcohol played a role in the man's death. He was wearing a helmet and a motorcycle jacket.
