SAN RAMON -- Those interested in seeking a seat on the San Ramon City Council this fall are invited to a public workshop this Saturday.

A pre-election training session will be held at 9:30 a.m. in the council chambers. The session will cover what's needed to declare candidacy and what's required by the Fair Political Practices Commission, officials said. A similar session was held Thursday night.

The mayor's seat and two council positions are up for grabs at the Nov. 5 election.

Mayor Bill Clarkson and Vice Mayor David Hudson said they are seeking re-election. Councilman Jim Livingstone said this week he is still deciding whether to run.

Candidate nominations will be accepted beginning July 15. The city clerk will receive nominations until Aug. 9 at 5 p.m. Hopefuls must reside within city limits, be registered to vote and submit a 300-word candidate statement.

Council chambers are located at 2222 Camino Ramon. For details, call 925-973-2539.
