SAN FRANCISCO -- Nineteen people were taken to hospitals with minor or moderate injuries following a crash between a white passenger van and a Muni train Saturday afternoon, police said.
Early reports are that six people were taken to San Francisco General Hospital for treatment.
The crash was reported at about 12:55 p.m. Saturday on the T-line at the intersection of 3rd Street and Evans Avenue in San Francisco's Bayview district, police said.
San Francisco police officer Gordon Shyy said the major accident investigations team will handle the probe into how the crash occurred. It was not immediately known if those injured were on the light-rail train or in the van or both. Shuttles came to the scene and transported Muni riders to another stop.
