SAN DIEGO -- The Giants are playing their best baseball in weeks, and before Saturday's game, they got another piece of good news.

A rained-out game against the Cincinnati Reds will be made up as part of a doubleheader on July 23, giving the Giants an extra game at AT&T Park.

The Giants and Reds were rained out on July 4, sending the Giants home early at the end of a 1-8 road trip. There were few options in terms of makeup dates. The teams shared an open date on August 29, but that would have required players on both sides to agree to break CBA rules and play 34 straight days. The other option was to play the day after the regular season ends.

Instead, the Reds will be the designated home team in the first game of a doubleheader July 23 at AT&T Park. The Giants will be the home team in the second game. The doubleheader is part of a four-game series at AT&T Park. Tickets for the originally scheduled July 23 game between the Giants and Reds will be good for both games.
