SAN LEANDRO -- Couples interested in getting married locally will be able to do so on Marriage Equality Day at City Hall sometime in September.

City council members Monday approved a plan to offer a single day of civil ceremonies to commemorate last month's court action allowing same-sex marriages to resume in California. Same sex or heterosexual couples who choose to get married at City Hall could be charged a $50 processing fee and a $75 per hour facility rental fee, under plans being considered by the council. The date of the event has yet to be decided.
