BERKELEY -- A woman was hospitalized after a two-vehicle crash that ended with a pickup truck coming to rest at the doorway of a South Berkeley store Wednesday afternoon.

Officers were called at 12:08 p.m. to the intersection of College and Ashby avenues for a report of a crash involving injury, said police spokeswoman Jennifer Coats.

Two vehicles collided and, as a result, one of them struck a park bench and then a trash can. The truck eventually came to rest against Jeremy's Department Store at 2961 College Avenue, Coats said.

The driver of the truck that struck the store was unable to get out, so first responders helped the woman out through the passenger door, Coats said.

The woman was taken to a local hospital to be treated for unknown injuries.

The driver of the other vehicle was not injured, police said.

No one was cited for the crash.
