SAN FRANCISCO -- Cosmetic retailer Lush is converting its store on Powell Street into a more environmentally friendly shop with recycled furniture and LED lighting.

When renovations are completed, the store will be Lush's most eco-friendly in the country. Lush, known for organic and handmade cosmetics that include ingredients such as seaweed and mushroom extract, says it wants to create stores that are as environmentally conscious as its products. The redesigned Powell Street store will have recycling and composting stations, recycled floor and sink tile, furniture made from reclaimed barn wood and organic paint for the walls.

Lush, which started in England, opened its first U.S. store at 240 Powell Street in 2002.
