SAN JOSE -- A single-car collision in southeast San Jose left a Salida man dead early Saturday morning.
Joaquin Anaya, 45, died when his car crashed while coming off the off-ramp from southbound Highway 101 toward Bernal Road, authorities said. The accident took place about 1:12 a.m., said Patra Albrecht, a deputy coroner at the Santa Clara County Medical Examiner-Coroner's Office.
The accident appeared to be due to excessive speed, said Capt. Mike Van Elgort, a spokesman for the San Jose Fire Dept. Anaya was pronounced dead at the scene, Albrecht said.
