MORAGA -- Fire crews have dubbed a blaze on a steep slope above the Moraga County Club "suspicious" after it burned 1 acre Wednesday afternoon.

Firefighters with the Moraga-Orinda Fire District responded to a call of brush on fire behind the club at 3:27 p.m. Homes near the fire on Augusta Drive and Greenbriar were not threatened.

The fire, which charred roughly 1 acre, was controlled at 3:57 p.m.

No firefighter injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire is suspicious and under investigation, the fire district said. They declined to offer further details.
