A suspected home burglar was locked into the house she was allegedly stealing from when the homeowner caught her in the act, Vallejo police said.
The suspect, identified by police as 42-year-old Geraldine Rodriguez, of Antioch, apparently tripped the home's security alarm by kicking in the front door, and alerted the property owner to her presence, on the 100 block of Sandpiper Drive, Vallejo police Lt. Kenny Park said.
The homeowner called police around 9:55 p.m. When police arrived they found the suspect locked inside the home via a security door, still allegedly in possession of the homeowner's possessions, Park said.
Police allege Rodriguez was under the influence of alcohol and drugs, which they discovered while trying to take her statement, Park said. Rodriguez was arrested and held on suspicion of a felony burglary charge, he added.
