PLEASANTON -- Police are searching for a man they say robbed a woman Monday while she was working at a Pleasanton storage unit, then took off with her belongings down the Iron Horse Trail.

Officers responded to the Public Storage location at 2500 Santa Rita Road after an employee reported she was robbed by a man who walked into the business about 10:55 a.m., Lt. Jim Knox said. The woman told police that the man, who appeared to be a transient, walked into the office and told her that if she gave him what he wanted, he would not hurt her.

The woman handed over her keys and wallet, although the suspect did not appear to be armed, Knox said. He was last seen running toward the Iron Horse Trail, which officers searched with no results.

The suspect is described as a white male in his 20s, between 5 feet 8 inches and 5 feet 9 inches tall and weighing between 145 and 165 pounds. He has blonde hair, and was wearing a black-hooded sweatshirt, baggy pants and a beanie hat pulled over his face.

Anyone with information about the suspect may contact the Pleasanton Police Department at 925-931-5100.
