Marin County drug investigators arrested an alleged methamphetamine dealer in Richmond for the second time in less than four months.

Robert Stephen Bovero, 53, was booked into the county jail in Richmond on a $345,000 warrant. He remained in custody Wednesday night.

Bovero was initially arrested in April by the Marin County Major Crimes Task Force, which suspected him of selling meth in the county. Investigators followed him from San Rafael to a hotel in Richmond, where they seized drugs, guns and syringes.

Bovero bailed out of jail while Contra Costa County prosecutors prepared charges, then failed to appear in court, said task force Sgt. Pierre Ahuncain. On Tuesday, after developing information that Bovero was staying at another hotel in Richmond, Marin probation officers and the task force went to arrest him on his outstanding warrant.

Investigators found more than an ounce of suspected meth in his possession, Ahuncain said. Detectives also found a drug pipe, syringes, and suspected stolen property, including an iPad that was allegedly stolen in Vacaville from a member of the military.

Bovero, whose previous residences include Corte Madera, has a lengthy history of criminal cases in Marin, according to court records.
