A stray blue jay flew into a piece of power equipment and cost nearly 2,000 residents in areas of Lafayette and Orinda their power Thursday morning, a spokeswoman said.
The outage, which began at 9:20 a.m., left 1,800 customers without electricity. PG&E crews restored power to all of them by 11 a.m., spokeswoman Tamar Sarkissian said. The company originally said 800 people remained without power at 11 a.m.
Sarkissian said the outage primarily affected areas of Glorietta Boulevard in Orinda and Acalanes Road in Lafayette but also spread south to Moraga Way in Lafayette and east to Hall Drive in Orinda.
