OAKLAND -- A 23-year-old woman was killed and a man critically wounded late Thursday in East Oakland when a gunman opened fire on a parked car, police said.
The woman's name was not released, nor was the name of the 26-year-old man who was with her. Police said they both live in Oakland and were friends.
The shooting happened about 11:36 p.m. Thursday in the 800 block of 100th Avenue near Pippin Street, an area of homes and light industry.
Police said the pair were sitting in a parked rental car when someone on foot opened fire on the vehicle from outside before fleeing.
The woman was pronounced dead at the scene. The man, who police said lived in the area, was in critical condition Friday at a hospital.
Officer Eric Milina said police don't have a motive yet and no arrests have been made.
Police and Crime Stoppers of Oakland are offering up to $15,000 in reward money for information leading to the arrest of a suspect.
