PLEASANTON -- Police are searching for a man they say robbed a Pleasanton convenience store off Santa Rita Road early Friday morning, authorities said.

About 1:45 a.m., a masked man leapt over the counter at the 7-11 store at 4307 Valley Ave. and tried to lock a store employee in a back room before forcing open the cash register and making off with an undisclosed amount of cash, Sgt. Ted Young said. No one was hurt in the incident, and no weapon was seen.

The suspect is described as a Hispanic male, 5 feet 7 inches tall and weighing about 220 pounds. He was wearing a white T-shirt, tan shorts and white shoes.

Anyone with information about the robbery may call Pleasanton police at 925-931-5100.
