RICHMOND -- A school bus carrying eight students collided with a sedan early Wednesday morning, creating a scare but ultimately not harming any children aboard the bus, police said.

The bus and a Buick LeSabre bumped each other at South 23rd and Maine streets at 7:35 a.m., California Highway Patrol Officer Ron Simmons said. Details about how the wreck occurred were not available, but Simmons said there were no injuries.

The location of the wreck was one block north and three blocks east of Coronado Elementary School, but police did not say where the bus was headed, nor did they have information on the ages of the students.

The crash blocked the roadway for a time, and CHP investigators remained on scene until about 9:30 a.m., Simmons said.
