SAN FRANCISCO -- A pedestrian crushed to death by a truck was identified Sunday as a 68-year-old Martinez man, authorities said.
Emitt Jackson died Friday afternoon after a truck hit him, pinning him against a parked vehicle at the intersection of Pacific Avenue and Polk Street in Nob Hill, according to San Francisco police.
Jackson was taken to a hospital where he later died. Investigators believe Jackson was loading or unloading a car at the time and that the driver of the truck may have been working with Jackson, police said.
It is unknown why the driver accelerated. The driver stayed to speak with police and has cooperated with the investigation, which remains active, police said.
