WALNUT CREEK -- An alert resident who heard the wail of a car alarm on Sunday helped police nab two people allegedly in possession of stolen goods, including mail from nearly 20 Walnut Creek homes, police said.

The resident called police at around 7:30 a.m. after hearing the alarm sounding in the area of Camino Verde and Quail View Circle, and then pointed out to police a suspicious car circling the neighborhood, authorities said.

Officers stopped the car and found property from two car burglaries as well as stolen mail, police said.

Arrested were 44-year-old David Anderson of Alameda and 20-year-old Jaime Davies of San Leandro. The pair were taken into custody on suspicion of possession of stolen property, possession of burglary tools, conspiracy and violation of probation, according to police.
