PLEASANTON -- A big rig traveling eastbound on Interstate 580 flipped over but landed upright just west of Santa Rita Road Wednesday afternoon, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The driver of the rig suffered minor injuries and was taken to Eden Medica Center in Castro Valley, said a spokesman from the CHP. No other cars were involved in the crash and no other injuries were reported.
The cause of the 3:10 p.m. wreck was not immediately known but may have been caused by a tire blowout, the CHP spokesman said. The rig spilled a load of dirt and blocked the far right lane until about 4:50 p.m. when the lane was reopened.
