HERCULES -- Jewelry valued at $40,000 was taken from a Hercules home on Monday, authorities said.

Police said the burglar entered the home in the 200 block of Carson Street by breaking a back window.

The theft happened sometime between 5 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. Police searched the neighborhood for a suspect, but no one was arrested. However, DNA was collected from the window's broken glass, police said.
