PINOLE -- An El Sobrante man has been arrested after allegedly pulling a gun and threatening to kill a worker who confronted him for walking out of the store wearing a pair of reportedly stolen tennis shoes, police said.
Police said Gursimran Singh, 27, brandished the loaded firearm outside Burlington Coat Factory on the 1300 block of Fitzgerald Drive on Oct. 23 at 11 a.m.
Singh and Nidhi Warraich, 28, also of El Sobrante, were earlier seen removing a theft device from a pair of shoes and leaving the store without paying for the shoes, according to police.
The pair were arrested a short time later during a "high risk" traffic stop. Officers found the stolen merchandise and the loaded gun in the car, according to police.
Police also said they have evidence Singh was involved in as many as four burglaries at a nearby Target store.
Singh and Warraich were taken into custody and booked into the Martinez Detention Facility on suspicion of robbery and aggravated assault.
