LAFAYETTE -- A suspect wanted for robbing a bank downtown remained at large Thursday, while officers combed the area with police dogs.

Police said a man robbed the Westamerica Bank at 3515 Mt. Diablo Blvd. about 9:10 a.m. Several schools in the area were locked down for nearly two hours while police dogs were used to help search for the suspect, though neither police nor the school district would say which schools were involved.

The suspect was described as a white man in his 20s, roughly 5 feet 11 inches and 160 pounds, wearing a baseball cap, sunglasses and a button-down, long-sleeve navy polo shirt, black jeans and light gray tennis shoes.
