SAN FRANCISCO -- One woman died and another is fighting for her life after gunfire broke out in San Francisco's South of Market neighborhood early Sunday morning, police said.
The shooting happened around 2:10 a.m. in the area of Sixth and Jessie streets, police said. Officers responding to the scene found two women suffering from at least one gunshot wound each, police said.
One of the women was pronounced dead after being taken to a hospital, police said. She was later identified as Melquiesha Warren, 23, of Sacramento. The other — Danisha Bean, 21, of Hayward — was listed in critical condition with life-threatening injuries, police said.
Police are investigating, but no arrests have been made, and police have not said they have any suspects.
