HAYWARD -- Free flu shots will be given Saturday at Southland Mall.

Influenza has killed more than 200 Californians under the age of 65 this season. Many of the deaths were among unvaccinated 40- to 65-year-olds, according to the California Department of Public Health. Almost all were caused by the H1N1 swine flu virus.

The vaccinations will be given to anyone age 18 or older while supplies last from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. in Southland Mall's Community Room C, which is downstairs next to the food court. No appointment is needed.

The vaccines are being offered by St. Rose Hospital and Unitek College of Nursing.
