BERKELEY -- Hot off-Broadway plays and a tribute to Lanford Wilson are among the highlights of the Aurora Theatre Company's 2014-2015 season, announced this week.
Gina Gionfriddo ("Becky Shaw") looks at women trying to lean in without falling over in a man's world in the Obie Award-winning "Rapture, Blister, Burn." The regional premiere runs Aug. 29-Sept. 28.
Fraser Grace delves into the politics of colonialism and race in the edgy "Breakfast with Mugabe." Jon Tracy directs the west coast premiere Nov. 7-Dec. 7.
The season also includes Nicky Silver's Broadway hit, the savage family comedy "The Lyons," directed by Barbara Damashek (Jan. 30-March 1, 2015).
The company will also explore the legacy of great American playwright Lanford Wilson through his Pulitzer-winning "Talley Trilogy," which includes "Talley's Folly," (April 2-May 10, 2015) "The Fifth of July" (April 17-May 17, 2015) and a staged reading of the rarely-performed "Talley & Son" (April 27-May 18, 2015).
Finally, Lisa D'Amour dishes up a tart satire of our crumbling American economy as framed by life in the suburbs of "Detroit." Josh Costello directs the regional premiere June 19-July 19, 2015.
