CONCORD -- Two teenagers are suspected of robbing a customer outside a convenience store over the weekend and were caught a short time later, police said Tuesday.

Police were called to the Super Liquor & Food store at 2714 Willow Pass Road around 8:10 p.m. Sunday night. A customer told them that two teenagers had punched and kicked him several times as he left the store, Concord police Lt. David Hughes said. The two teens also allegedly stole liquor the man had purchased from the store.

After the robbery, the suspects fled, taking a bicycle and skateboard with them. An officer then spotted two teens on a bike and skateboard about 10 minutes later on Parkside Drive, just outside Baldwin Park, Hughes said.

The pair matched the physical description of the suspects given by the victim, and police detained them, Hughes said. Another witness to the robbery then identified them a short time later, and police also found evidence on the suspects linking them to the robbery, Hughes said.

The two were placed under arrest on suspicion of robbery and assault with a deadly weapon and taken to Juvenile Hall, Hughes said. Police said one of the teens was a 16-year-old from Concord and that the other was a 15-year-old from Vallejo.

An ambulance took the robbery victim to a hospital for treatment of minor injuries, Hughes said.
