OAKLEY -- Police are investigating a homicide on Amador Avenue near Oakley City Hall, according to a sergeant with the Contra Costa County Sheriff's Office.
At about 3:54 p.m., police responded to reports of a fight between two men inside a home on the 000 block of Amador Avenue, said Contra Costa Sheriff's Sgt. Garrett Schiro.
When officers arrived, they found a man, who has not been identified, severely injured and on the ground, Schiro said. Though police and paramedics attempted to revive him, the man was later declared dead at the scene.
Police did not release the man's cause of death.
A suspect, who has also not been identified, turned himself him at the Oakley Police Department at 4:09 p.m., Schiro added.
Schiro did say that the two men in the fight lived together at the home on Amador Avenue and are believed to have been roommates. Police said they did not yet know what caused the fight.
This is the city's second homicide of the year. In January, 23-year-old Antioch resident Jesse Hernandez was shot and killed in front of a home on the 500 block of Norcross Lane, less than a quarter mile from Thursday's homicide scene. Two days later, Oakley resident Michael Arthur-Sanchez Martin, 19, was arrested in connection with the homicide.
