CONCORD -- A 29-year-old Richmond man on a motorcycle died early Thursday when he collided with a car making a U-turn just south of Highway 4, the California Highway Patrol said.
The crash occurred just before 7 a.m. on Avila Road, off Willow Pass Road, CHP spokesman Officer John Fransen said. Police did not immediately identify the motorcyclist, pending notification of family.
A 1991 red Honda Prelude was eastbound on Avila when the driver started making a U-turn into a driveway, only to be T-boned by the motorcycle, also traveling east, Fransen said. The Prelude's driver told officers that the driveway leads to his workplace.
Medics gave the motorcyclist CPR, but he was pronounced dead after being taken by ambulance to a hospital, Fransen said. He was wearing a helmet.
The driver of the Honda, a 20-year-old from Pleasant Hill, didn't suffer any significant injuries, Fransen said.
