Contra Costa County firefighters spent almost four and a half hours battling and finally containing a grass fire that scorched about 40 acres in Bay Point early Saturday morning, a dispatcher reported.

The blaze was reported at 12:37 a.m. near Solano and Suisun avenues, and firefighters contained it at 5 a.m. Two units remained on the scene several hours later.

Though firefighters initially reported the fire's size at 100 acres, they later said it was only about 40 acres. No buildings were damaged, and no injuries occurred.
