RICHMOND -- A person struck and killed by a westbound Capitol Corridor train Thursday afternoon was identified by authorities Friday as 37-year-old Michael Shumake of Richmond.

Shumake was on the tracks when the train pulled into the Richmond station at Nevin Avenue and 19th Street around 3:40 p.m., Amtrak spokesman Steve Kulm said on Thursday. The train was traveling from Sacramento to Oakland.

Nobody on the train was injured, and the 64 passengers were given free travel on BART to reach their destination. BART and Amtrak share the station.
