A Marin City pedestrian was arrested on allegations she kicked a woman's car and then stole it during the ensuing fight.

Alexius Fontenot, 22, was booked into Marin County Jail on suspicion of vehicle theft, disturbing the peace and driving with a suspended license. Her bail was set at $25,000.

The incident occurred Monday afternoon at the Gateway Shopping Center. Fontenot was walking in the parking lot when she kicked a passing car because she thought it came too close to her, said sheriff's Lt. Jamie Scardina.

The driver got out of the car, a fight broke out, and Fontenot allegedly got in the car and drove off, Scardina said.

Fontenot pulled over when she saw deputies arriving. She suffered scratches on her face and the victim was bleeding from the ear, but both women declined medical treatment.

The district attorney's office filed a misdemeanor case against Fontenot on Tuesday. ------ (c)2014 The Marin Independent Journal (Novato, Calif.) Visit The Marin Independent Journal (Novato, Calif.) at www.marinij.com Distributed by MCT Information Services
