HAYWARD -- The City Council will appoint someone to fill a vacancy created when Councilwoman Barbara Halliday was sworn in as mayor last week.
Hayward residents interested in the council spot must apply by noon Wednesday. Halliday's council term runs through June 2016.
Council members will screen the applicants, and the top choices will be interviewed at the City Council's July 22 meeting. Afterward, the council will vote, with the winner being sworn in that night.
The application is available online at www.hayward-ca.gov or at the city clerk's office at City Hall, 777 B St. For more information, call the clerk's office at 510-583-4400.
