OAKLAND -- One person was shot near a busy park in West Oakland on Saturday afternoon.
Police responded at about 5:15 p.m. Saturday to reports of multiple gunshots at Lowell Park near 14th and Linden streets. One person was found wounded and taken to a hospital and was in stable condition, police said.
At 5:40, more than half a dozen officers were scouring the scene and had placed markers in the street alongside what appeared to be shell casings. Others were interviewing people in the park.
The casings were directly across the street from a playground equipment designed for small children. There were a few dozen people in the park.
A police spokeswoman did not immediately respond to a request for additional details.
