PITTSBURG -- A 49-year-old man died early Tuesday after a car crash on Bailey Road, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Kevin Dwayne Johnson, of Pittsburg, lost control of a 2004 Chrysler PT Cruiser on northbound Bailey Road near Willow Avenue at about 2:50 a.m., the CHP said.
The car hit a dirt embankment and overturned. Johnson, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was ejected from the car and killed, according to the CHP. No one else was injured, and no other cars were involved in the crash.
The wreck shut down Bailey Road in both directions during the CHP's investigation. The road, which runs through the hills between Pittsburg and Concord, reopened around 5:20 a.m., and the morning commute did not seem to be affected.
