OAKLAND -- A woman was shot by a man who had tried to flirt with her and a man was wounded by an armed robber in separate incidents Monday morning in East Oakland, police said.
Both are expected to recover from their wounds.
The woman was shot about 1 a.m. outside a taco truck in the 3800 block of Foothill Boulevard.
Police said two men tried to flirt with the woman as she bought some food. She became upset with the unwanted attention and called her husband to come to her aid.
When her husband arrived, he got into an argument with the men and one of them shot his wife.
The suspects fled and the man took his wife to a hospital where she was in stable condition.
At 5:52 a.m., two men were walking in the 1400 block of 47th Avenue when they were confronted by two men who demanded their valuables, police said.
One of the robbers had a gun and took one man's wallet from his pocket. When the man resisted, he was shot in the leg. The robbers then ran away.
The wounded man was taken by ambulance to a hospital where he was in stable condition.
Police and Crime Stoppers of Oakland are offering up to $5,000 in reward money in each shooting for information leading to the arrest of the suspects. Anyone with information may call police at 510-238-3426 or 510-238-3326 or Crime Stoppers at 510-777-8572.
