HAYWARD -- Downtown will throw its final street party of the year along B Street on Thursday.

Five bands will play at the party. Salsa band Patron will set up next to Bank of the West, and rockabilly band Royal Deuces will be at The Bistro at B and Main streets.

Latin funk band Third Sol will perform at Newman Park at B and Mission Boulevard, and rhythm 'n' blues group Stompey Jones will be in front of Buffalo Bill's near Foothill Boulevard.

The Hayward High School Marching Band will play near City Hall Plaza at B and Watkins streets.

The family-friendly California Dreamin' party will have street performers, face painting, pony rides and children's games.

About 100 hot rods and classic cars will be displayed on Main. Prizes will be given for best in show and the people's choice award.

Nonprofit groups, businesses, local agencies and food vendors will set up booths along B Street. Drinks will be sold in beer and soda gardens.

The party takes place from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday on B from Foothill Boulevard to City Hall.

Downtown has been hosting the street parties for 15 years, said the president of the Hayward Chamber of Commerce.

"These free events are part of a great Hayward tradition of community celebrations that appeal to all ages," Kim Huggett said.

This is the third street party of the summer.
