BERKELEY -- An elderly woman suffering from dementia who went missing late Thursday night has been reunited with her family, police said Friday.
Carmen Dentamaro, 75, was located at Aquatic Park around 10:10 a.m. after a citizen called police to report that an elderly woman appeared to be disoriented and needed a welfare check. Officers responding to the area determined the woman was Dentamaro, and police returned her to her family.
Dentamaro did not need medical attention.
Police said Dentamaro wandered away from the area of Bowditch Street and Durant Avenue around 11 p.m. Thursday, wearing a dark-green down jacket and blue pants. Those two streets are on the southeast side of the city, while Aquatic Park is on the western end, about 3 1/2 miles away.
