ANTIOCH -- A 37-year-old man was arrested for the fatal shooting of a Pittsburg man who robbed him Friday evening, police said.
Leo Lopez of Antioch was booked in County Jail in Martinez on suspicion of murder for the shooting at about 8:31 p.m. at 20 E. 18th Street, police said.
Lopez was parked in his van at the Rite Aid parking lot when a 27-year-old Pittsburg opened the van's door and allegedly tried to rob him at gunpoint. Lopez pulled out his own gun and shot the man as the man drove off in his van and crashed in front of a home on W. 17th Street near A Street, police said.
Police called to the area on reports of shots fired found Lopez near the parking lot and later found the crashed van and the man dead from multiple gunshot wounds inside.
Police are investigating the homicide and ask anyone with information about it to call detectives at 925-779-6884.
