OAKLAND -- A man's loaner vehicle caught fire minutes after he parked it in his garage Friday afternoon, a fire official said.
The Mercedes caught fire around 4:45 p.m. at a garage inside a home on the 6100 block of Ascot Drive, said Oakland Fire Battalion Chief Ian McWhorter. The fire was under control within 40 minutes. No injuries were reported.
The fire was contained to the garage, McWhorter said. The cause of the fire was unknown.
"Fortunately for the homeowner, he's a contractor and he double insulated his garage, so it was contained to his garage," he said.
The fire caused an estimate $45,000 in damages.
