BRENTWOOD -- The Sutter East Bay Medical Foundation is expanding its presence in far East Contra Costa County by moving to a new, larger location along the Highway 4 bypass and adding an established primary care physician to its growing Brentwood Care Center.
Dr. Matthew Campbell will join the East Bay Physicians Medical Group of Brentwood when it moves into his current office building at 350 John Muir Parkway. The group of eight physicians and specialists and 12 staff members will share 9,200 square feet of medical office space after the planned move on Oct. 8.
"He is one of the finest primary care physicians in the Brentwood area and has been practicing there for 15 years," East Bay Physicians Medical Group President and CEO Dr. Samuel Santoro said. "The increasing demand for more primary care physicians and greater access to health care in our community cannot be ignored."
The East Bay Physicians Medical Group began serving far East County in 2004 with just one physician. Since then, the practice has experienced a 5-percent growth annually in new patients at its 5,000-square-foot current location, 1120 Second St.
"It is a growing area and a great place for young people to raise a family. It is great lifestyle," Santoro said. "We want to provide health care locally and allow patients to access our entire system."

Dr. Campbell is board certified in internal medicine and holds his medical degree from the University of Health Sciences, Chicago Medical School and finished his residency at the University of Nevada, Reno, Wells noted. The new clinic will be open weekdays from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. this fall and offer full parking, examination rooms, outpatient services and a lab.
"We know that primary care physicians and care centers help patients maintain overall health by focusing on preventive care -- and we are here to address that need," said Santoro. "We are very excited that Dr. Campbell will be joining our group and the additional clinic space allows us to expand our primary and specialist network, making access even more convenient for our growing number of patients."
