Emery game today to decide EBCAL title: The championship of the East Bay Counties Athletic League will be at stake when the Liberty Lions meet the Emery Spartans in Emeryville this afternoon, and the Lions will probably have their last chance to cop an EBCAL title if teams in the area are reshuffled and there is a new league set up before another season rolls around.
Both the Lions and the Spartans go into this afternoon's game undefeated in league play. Liberty has won from San Ramon, Livermore and Amador and gets credit for a win through the CSD forfeit. Emery has proved the surprise team of the league. Given little in preseason estimates, they have gone through without defeat, their last victim being Amador lase week Friday.
Despite the mauling they got in the John Swett game, the Lions are in good condition and Coach Lou Bronzan is confident that they can hold on to their gridiron championship if they do not have a letdown, and play the game of which they are capable.
