BRENTWOOD -- A vehicle crash shut down a major thoroughfare and has left residents without power late Wednesday.

The crash happened around 8:22 p.m. when a car struck a power pole. The pole fell onto the roadway, blocking both directions of traffic, according to police.

Only minor injuries were reported.

Delays are expected along Brentwood Boulevard from Guthrie Lane to Sellers Avenue for the next several hours.

Drivers can use Walnut Boulevard and Concord Avenue to bypass the closure, police added.

The collision caused several power outages in the area, police said, and PG&E crews are working to restore service.
