Palo Alto-based 10gen, developer of open-source database MongoDB, on Tuesday announced $42 million in new financing, led by New Enterprise Associates.
"We want to change the database market," said 10gen CEO Dwight Merriman, who previously co-founded online advertising giant DoubleClick.
Merriman said the financing round -- the company's fifth venture capital infusion -- will provide 10gen's clients "a database that scales to any big-data level." Those clients include Craigslist, Disney and Foursquare.
Other investors in the round, the company's fifth, include Sequoia Capital, Flybridge Capital and Union Square Ventures.
