Kaiser gives $5 million to Children's Hospital
Oakland-based Children's Hospital & Research Center has received a $5 million grant from Oakland-based Kaiser Permanente to rebuild and modernize the 100-year-old children's medical center.
"We are extremely grateful for Kaiser Permanent's generous donation," said Betram Lubin, CEO of Children's Hospital. Kaiser Permanente's grant will help ensure that our community's children continue to receive the very best health care."
Public pediatric hospital beds are not available in the East Bay, which means Children's Hospital provides a key safety net for children's health care services.
Aradigm seeks to raise $6 million in stock sale
Hayward-based Aradigm has struck a deal for the sale of stock for $6 million in a private placement with two existing shareholders.
Aradigm agreed to sell 50 million shares at 12 cents each.
"We are very pleased for the support demonstrated by our shareholders in this private placement," Aradigm CEO Igor Gonda said.
Aradigm hopes to use the proceeds for additional product development and creation of partnerships to commercial its products.

Several men attempted to steal oil from the sprawling pipeline network that the Chevron unit operates. The attempted robbery caused minor damage to the pipeline and more than 76 barrels of crude oil were spilled.
PT Chevron Pacific produces around 340,000 barrels of oil per day, roughly equivalent to 40 percent of Indonesia's average daily crude output.
