EMERYVILLE -- Jamba Juice plans to hire about 500 new employees in the Bay Area, part of a nationwide hiring spree to put young people to work for the summer.
The smoothie company is looking to add up to 3,500 to the payroll as part of the Obama administration's "Summer Jobs+" initiative, which targets low-income and disadvantaged youth. Jamba Juice will hold interviews at 100 stores on Tuesday from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m.
Positions will be filled throughout the summer and include team members and managers. Applicants must be 18 years old, and management positions require a high school diploma and at least 25 hours per week. Bring a list of references and a completed application. In 2012, Jamba Juice exceeded its pledged to hire 2,500 summer youth, hiring close to 6,000.
